Fields - 2C

Mrs. Kelly Fields

Second Grade

Hello. My name is Kelly Fields. I am originally from West Virginia, but have resided in South Carolina for approximately 24 years.  I received my B.A. in elementary education from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, and my masters in education from Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina.  I began my teaching career in 1999 in the upstate of Greenwood, SC, teaching 3rd grade. While in Greenwood, I was lead teacher, taught in a single gender classroom, and had the opportunity to be coached personally by Jan Richardson.  I continued teaching in Greenwood until 2009 when I took a teaching position in Charleston, SC.  Since being in Charleston, I have taught in a single gender classroom, worked in CD, 2nd grade, and 5th grade.  I am currently teaching 2nd grade at Dunston Elementary, where in 2014 I teamed up with our former reading coach and team taught a literacy residency.  Throughout my teaching career, literacy has become a primary focus of instruction in my classroom. Literacy is integrated into content areas on a daily basis, including writing, math, science and social studies.  This integration provides the foundation for real world connections and celebrations. Literacy is the key students need to become productive citizens in the future.

I teach to inspire and share knowledge with my students, so I can see them grow and love learning.
